The Singapore City Immersion is Coming Up in May 2025

We are excited to announce an upcoming immersion program in Singapore, scheduled from May 9 to May 16, 2025. This week-long event promises a remarkable experience for all participants, blending educational, cultural, and spiritual growth opportunities. As with previous immersions, this journey will uniquely shape each participant's understanding of ministry and community engagement.

The theme for the Singapore immersion is “Singapore: A City by His Grace.” Through this immersive experience and course, participants will be exposed to the principles and practices of transformational leadership in the global city of Singapore. The curriculum will explore the characteristics and experiences of transformational leaders, alongside the practices of various ministries within Singapore’s historical and Christian legacy.

Participants will discover Singapore, often referred to as the "Lion City," known for its rich cultural heritage and dynamic urban landscape. This melting pot of cultures provides a vibrant backdrop for our immersion. Attendees will learn about the city’s history and modern advancements while engaging with local leaders, community organizations, and fellow students.

Aside from our moniker as the Lion City, Singapore holds a prophetic calling to be the Antioch of Asia, serving as a vibrant hub for mission and ministry that transcends borders and cultures. This immersion program will highlight how Singapore embodies this calling through various spheres of influence, including family, business, arts, and social justice. By exploring initiatives that strengthen families, empower businesses, elevate the arts, and serve marginalized communities, participants will witness firsthand how Singaporean leaders live out their faith in practical ways.

During the immersion, participants will explore the role of Christians in the public domain, considering how faith has influenced public life, social justice, and cultural development in a multi-religious and rapidly secularizing society.

Throughout the week, participants will delve into five key themes. In the family sphere, they will engage with speakers involved in initiatives like Dads for Life and the Yellow Ribbon Project, which focus on strengthening family units and supporting those in need. In the business sphere, participants will discover groups, like Brave Ubi and Global Business Network, that help business owners steward their enterprises responsibly while collaborating for the good of the city.

The arts and communications theme will showcase how Christian artists and media professionals use their talents to positively influence culture. Sessions will highlight creative expressions, such as art galleries and digital spaces, that foster hope and transformation within society. In the social sphere, participants will visit ministries dedicated to serving the poor and marginalized in Singapore such as the Queenstown Kakis. These visits will provide practical insights into how organizations implement transformative practices in their communities.

Additionally, participants will enjoy guided tours through the heart of Singapore to explore how Urban Missions have evolved historically and in the present day. This exploration will offer a comprehensive understanding of the urban context in which these missions operate, illustrating how faith is lived out across various sectors in Singapore.

The course will blend traditional academic teaching with experiential learning through visits to significant locations. Each visit will be paired with conversations with local leaders and experts, helping participants investigate and evaluate how Singapore's historical and Christian past informs its present and future. Each day of the immersion will begin with a time of spiritual formation. These morning sessions will invite participants to open their hearts to what God has in store during their time in Singapore. Through prayer, worship, and reflection, students will prepare for the experiences ahead and seek guidance on how they can serve both locally and globally.

Gathering together in this intimate setting, participants can anticipate that God will speak to them individually and collectively, guiding them as they explore new ideas and challenge themselves to grow in their faith. In addition, Dr. Bryan Long will bring participants through the use of Minimum Viable Interactions to learn about how to test out their assumptions about the impact they want to see in their communities.

Mark your calendars! The immersion program will take place from May 9-16, 2025.

Registration is now open. Participants may enroll for academic credit or choose to audit the course for a nominal fee. Whether seeking an enriching educational experience or personal growth, this immersion promises invaluable insights.
