Three Cities: One Immersion! Coming up in October 2025

Have you heard about the Triangle Cities Immersion that is coming up in the October 2025 term? Yes, it’s true. We are hosting a three-cities immersion, a first of its kind for BGU, but here’s something that you may not know…keep reading.

The “Triangle Cities” Immersion is now called the “Tri-Cities” Immersion because we wanted everyone to know that we are going to three cities in North Carolina, not just one. That’s right! We are going to Raleigh, Durham, and Chapel Hill for this immersion.

These cities are widely known on the East Coast as the Triangle Cities, mostly because of the Triangle Research Park (which we will visit while there) and the presence of some of America’s largest research universities and tech companies. If you are interested in academic and other major types of research being done throughout the world, these cities are the places to go. With its own Silicon Valley environment, 11 tech companies exist in these three cities including a new Apple Store and Google Office that were added in the last two years!

The theme for the immersion is “The Tale of Three Cities: Legacies of Enduring Transformation”. To achieve this goal, the Tri-Cities Immersion will include site visits across the spectrum: political, economic, social, education, business, medical/healthcare, and spiritual. We’ll explore the hand of God at work to help vulnerable populations in the three cities, as well as participating in projects for the homeless community and a therapeutic horseback riding program for children with special needs called Hope Reins. We’ll meet with the mayors of each city and other local business, church and civic leaders to discuss community development and effective partnerships.

The Tri-Cities Immersion will be missions driven as we visit with those who are doing missions work in and outside of the church. Sunday will be a full worship experience as we will go to Dr. J.D. Greear’s church, The Summit, while students will read his book called “What are you Going to do with Your Life?”. Students will be challenged to make transformative decisions combined with a real world learning and educational experience and spiritual retreat!

Come and join us! The resident dates for the Tri-Cities Immersion are Friday, October 24-Sunday, November 2, 2025, and the term starts October 1st . You can register for 4 or 8-credits (doctoral) or 3 or 6-credits (master's). You can also “Audit” the Tri-Cities Immersion for Educational Credit (no credit hours, but the full learning and immersion experience) for a small fee. And your spouses, friends, and family can join you.

The time is now! We are just 9 weeks away from the start of the October term! Contact your Academic Advisor and get registered. You’ll need to start planning now (especially if traveling from a global location)! Visa requirements can take longer, so an early start will work in your favor. This will be an immersion like no other, so even if you have gone on an immersion before, it may be time to re-live that wonderful experience again.

The Tri-Cities Immersion PORs are Dr. Godspower Ugboh and Dr. Paulette Jordan. Please contact them for more information. Their email addresses are Godspower@bgu.edu or paulette.jordan@bgu.edu.

We look forward to sharing this unique, one-of-a-kind learning and spiritual experience with you!
