The Daniel Project

The Daniel Project is a strategic initiative at Bakke Graduate University (BGU), dedicated to supporting undergraduate and graduate college students on campuses across the United States as they seek to discover their vocations and pursue ways to transform their communities through Christ-centered transformational leadership. Inspired by the biblical figure Daniel, this initiative identifies and equips modern-day Daniels (and Deborahs) to live out their faith in the marketplace, demonstrating how to engage authentically and effectively in a complex world. BGU is currently piloting this project on the University of Memphis (UofM) campus in Tennessee in the United States. The project manager for the UofM campus is Jeff Smith. If you would like to contribute one-time or monthly to this scholarship program, or give to financially support Jeff Smith as a campus missionary, please visit our dedicated donation page.

The biblical narrative of Daniel provides a great example of a transformational leader who excelled in understanding of art, science, language, and culture, and whose Godly wisdom set him apart and empowered him to achieve organizational and community renewal and revitalization. U.S. cities and rural communities nationwide are in desperate need of leaders who not only excel in their fields but also embody this multicultural spirit.

As we seek to recruit a cohort of emerging leaders on campuses across the United States, BGU aims to raise $250,000 over the next two years to position these students for success. The funds raised will directly impact students through scholarships and wraparound services such as mentor coaching. By investing in this cohort of students, BGU and its donor-investors can equip them with the biblical foundation and practical skills necessary to create positive change in their communities and impact the marketplace with Christ-centered transformational leadership.
