President's Note - August 2024

God is doing amazing things through BGU students, faculty, staff, and alumni who are located throughout the continent of Asia. Our BGU Korea program just had our first cohort of graduates from our Doctor of Transformational Leadership degree, a highly contextualized program that equips leaders in various sectors of society in transformational leadership perspectives. We are planning to celebrate our new graduates with a special hooding ceremony and partnership celebration at Sarang Community Church in Seoul on September 20th.

While we are in Seoul in September, we will also have a large contingent of people from our BGU community who will be participating in The Fourth Lausanne Congress. BGU will be rolling up our sleeves to engage with the gathering in practical ways, which aligns with our mission to equip leaders in the global church through collaboration with networks. To leverage our impact there, our certificates team at BGU has developed an amazing learning tool called Passport to Accelerating Mission to assist Lausanne delegates and other global Christian leaders to interact meaningfully with content that was recently released in the State of The Great Commission Report. The certificate is currently open and the leaders who are going through the content are discussing topics that are important to the future expansion of the Church.

Beyond our BGU Korea program, there is so much more happening throughout the diverse regions of Asia. Over the years, BGU has held city immersions and developed leaders in our online courses in places like Singapore, China, Malaysia, Myanmar, India, Vietnam, and parts of the Middle East. I have seen first-hand how our transformational leadership training has made a significant impact as I have meandered through city streets and sat around the table of fellowship with BGU students, faculty, and alumni in world class cities like Manila, Mumbai, and Abu Dhabi. BGU is growing in many different parts of the world as our regional ecosystems and partnerships develop, and our presence throughout the diverse regions of Asia is an integral part of our growth and path forward as an institution. I cannot wait to see how our impact throughout Asia expands in meaningful ways for many years to come!
