President's Note - April 2024

When I enrolled in my first course as a doctoral student at BGU in 2009, I was amazed at the global diversity represented in classmates who were a part of our city immersion in the city of Seattle, Washington in the United States. Leaders from around the world had traveled to participate in the course, and that trend of diversity continued on throughout my learning journey of online and city immersions as a student at BGU. I became friends with students and faculty from many different countries throughout the world. Not only did I make new friends, but my worldview was dramatically transformed from a U.S.-centric perspective to that of a global citizen who had much to learn from my brothers and sisters in Christ from Latin America, Europe, Asia, and Africa. To this day, one of my favorite things about being a part of the BGU family is learning from our community that is dispersed throughout the world.

In this newsletter, we’re highlighting what God is doing through our network that is spread throughout the continent of Africa. The Accra, Ghana city immersion made a significant impact in the lives of the students and alumni who traveled there earlier this year. A regional ecosystem is developing in Ethiopia and beyond through our BGU staff, students, and alumni. Our partnerships in Francophone Africa are bearing much fruit. We’re just touching the surface with highlighting what God is doing through our BGU network located in the unique and diverse countries and cultures throughout Africa. We are building on years of history with equipping transformational leaders, and we look forward with anticipation to all that God has in store for expanding the BGU family for many years to come.
