Phil Butler passed on to heaven this past Palm Sunday. I served as the chairman of visionSynergy’s board for 7 years which was founded by Phil Butler to help global Christians learn to collaborate more and compete less. He often said, “My prayer is that our work will result in younger leaders habitually asking the question ‘who can I partner with in my work rather than doing it alone?’” Phil provided both inspiration for collaboration, but also proven, practical, steps and coaching for how to make it happen. We often referred to him as “The Most Interesting Man in the World” as he had amazing stories of connecting with global leaders first as an international journalist, and then as a constant advocate for collaboration and partnership. BGU’s collaboration values and courses were a direct result of his influence. After he retired from visionSynergy, the work of collaboration has exponentially increased through the capable leadership of his successor and daughter, Kärin Butler Primuth.
