Faith and justice: The Relationship between Christian Mission and Community

This thesis critically examines the role of evangelical churches in Colonia La Florida, Guatemala City, where severe challenges such as violence, poverty, and social exclusion persist despite the presence of more than 100 congregations. The study investigates how missional actions influence community development and social justice, proposing a contextualized model of integral mission that combines discipleship and social action. A mixed-methods approach was employed, including surveys and semi-structured interviews, revealing spiritual transformation potential but limited community articulation and interchurch collaboration. The thesis concludes that implementing an integral mission model can strengthen the church’s social impact and contribute to building more just and sustainable communities.
